Final Thoughts: Dermalogica Super Exfoliant

IMG_6783.jpg

So, it's been a good month of testing out these Dermalogica products and overall, my skin has been loving it! If you haven't already, please read my first impressions post where I go into detail about the claims of all the products by clicking here. If you have read the first impressions post then keep reading for my final thoughts!

Daily Superfoliant

I have been using this every morning for the majority of the last 4 weeks. For the past 2 weeks, I have been using this 3-4 times a week as I felt like my skin has become drier/dehydrated & so I wanted days where I could use something a little less 'powerful'. This product is really effective and leaves you with soft and smooth skin. I could tell after every use that this exfoliant was giving me a deep-cleanse and the ability to resurface my skin was 100% on another level! My skin-tone was much more balanced and my scarring had faded significantly! By using enough water with this powder exfoliant, you could form a foamy substance so it's not like using a grainy physical exfoliator which would be harsh to use on your skin every day!If you have either dry or sensitive skin, I would recommend you to use this 2-4 times a week. Even though this is suitable for daily use, I think exfoliating too much for either of those skin types can cause your skin to feel irritated or dry your skin out even more. With regards to the packaging, I do feel like a filter of smaller holes would be better to dispense the product. Quite a few times I did accidentally pour a bit too much product out and I kinda had to use it all...given the price of this product (£55) you really don't want to be wasteful! I still have roughly half of the product left so I'd say on average, this would last me around 2-3 months depending on how often I use it.

Skin Smoothing Cream

I've been using this skin smoothing cream as my daily moisturiser and it's a perfect base whether you wear makeup over the top or not! I generally opt for gel-based moisturisers because I've found a lot of creams just lay on top of your skin instead of hydrating the skin. However, that wasn't the case with this cream! In fact, I felt like I needed something a little bit more moisturising. When I spoke to the advisor at the Dermalogica store, she suggested that I try out the Intensive Moisture Balance cream instead. This has the same formula as the smoothing cream - it's just for a drier skin type. I loved using this and it has the ability to provide me with more hydration without feeling too sticky, oily or greasy.

If you have dry skin, I would recommend you to try out the Intensive Moisture Balance cream instead of the smoothing cream! Another alternative I was advised was to add their Phyto Replenish Oil to my smoothing cream to increase the creams moisture intensity. Instead of mixing them both, I applied a few drops of this oil to my face and followed up with applying the smoothing cream. This concoction is by far the smoothest thing I've applied onto my face!! I felt like I was in a spa every time I used the Phyto Replenish Oil! Again, using this routine did not make my face look or feel greasy & after 5-10mins I was able to apply makeup over the top as usual.

Precleanse Balm

I haven't used this product on a daily basis as I don't wear a full face of makeup every day. However, every time I do use this to take my makeup off, I am impressed at how it makes my 'getting un-ready' routine from being a burden into a 'wow my makeup is REALLY off in 5mins' kinda moment. It's really amazing to see how far skincare has come and how its possible to take off even the heaviest of makeup with this one product! I have 0 complaints about this product. I think it's suitable for all skin types and is especially soothing for dry skin types because of the balm-to-oil formula. I'm able to take 99% of my makeup with this. The 1% is my mascara which I prefer to take off using an eye-makeup remover & cotton pad because I have sensitive eyes. Other than that, this product gets the job done! 10/10!

Special Cleansing Gel

IMG_6776.jpg

I follow up with this product after using the precleanse balm. This is really gentle on the skin and is perfect to end your cleansing routine with. Because this is a gel formula instead of an oil, it easily reaches the hard to reach areas of your face that you may have missed with the precleanse balm. It will also leave you with refreshed skin free of any impurities - skin that's neither oily nor dry! I think this is a great follow up product to the precleanse balm but not a product I would solely use to take my makeup off with! Out of the two cleansing products, I would definitely recommend the precleanse balm and you could probably substitute the special cleansing gel with your favourite cleanser and still achieve a great result. However, if you are on the hunt for a gentle yet effective cleanser, I would recommend this for all skin types!
