Whether it's buying goods wrapped up in recycled plastic (if any), using less plastic straws, taking your own fabric shopping bags to Tesco or opting for a reusable water bottle, many of us are now consciously making environmentally-friendly choices to better our daily lifestyles. The beauty industry has been hit hard on the amount of waste they produce with excessive packaging, especially since online shopping/PR packages has increased the use of bubble wrap/boxes/plastic for even the smallest of products. Despite these challenges, there has been a growth of environmentally-friendly brands like Face Halo which aims to remodel how the average makeup wearer removes their makeup while reducing the amount of waste we produce in the process! Read on if you're interested in learning all about Face Halo!

What is a Face Halo?

Face Halo is a brand brought to life by two busy beauty lovers looking for an easy & environmentally-friendly way to remove makeup - an alternative of using (and quickly running out of) face wipes. Bec & Lizzy invented small, round and most importantly, reusable makeup removers! The Halo is made up of lots and lots of Halotech fibres which are said to be 100 times thinner than the human hair. All you need to activate this Face Halo and effectively remove all of your makeup is...water! Yep, no cleansers and no other products are necessary. Intrigued by HaloTech and wanting to declutter my 'everyday essentials', I tested out the Face Halo Pro's which I bought off Beauty Bay.

How does it work?

The HaloTech fibres are so thin, they are able to reach deeper into your pores to remove makeup below the surface level. By running water (cold and warm water are both okay) over the Halo, the fibres loosen up and allow makeup and dirt to latch onto the fibres, making removing your makeup much quicker!

The simple steps I took to remove my makeup using the Face Halo:

  1. Grab my Face Halo.

  2. Run warm water over my Face Halo.

  3. Squeeze out excess water.

  4. Gently rubbed my face in circular motions all over my face.*

  5. Added more water to my Face Halo as needed.

  6. Used micellar water to remove excess eye makeup and followed up with my glycolic acid toner before applying my eye cream & night cream.

*Although the Face Halo can effectively take off your eye makeup as well as your face makeup, I prefer to use micellar water on a cotton pad instead - I have sensitive eyes and hate water getting into my eyes!

Benefits of using the Face Halo

  • It's reusable - The Face Halo can be washed up to 200 times! You can either use an unscented bar soap & water to remove dirt and stains from your Face Halo or you can pop it in the washing machine for a rinse (without any fabric conditioner). By using the Face Halo you are creating a lot less waste. Imagine how many face wipes and cotton pads you go through otherwise!

  • It's affordable - I bought a pack of three Face Halo's for £18 off Beauty Bay. Instead of using face wipes and cleansers, this is a much quicker and cheaper way to remove your makeup.

  • It's gentle - Face Halo's are gentle enough for all skin types. Unlike face wipes, there are no chemicals involved so you can relax knowing that your skin is in safe hands!

  • It's quick - Using the Face Halo made it a lot quicker to remove my full face of makeup in comparison to using cleansers or a face wipe. Double cleansing wasn't necessary! A must-have for busy mums, busy city girls and everyone in between.

  • Face Halo's look cute! - Available in Black or White, they suit any bathroom aesthetic so you can leave them to dry after washing in your bathroom!

Final Thoughts

FaceHalo1.jpg

I am very happy with my Face Halo purchase! To be honest, I didn't think it would be able to take off a full face of makeup but I was pleasantly surprised! Even when I follow up with my glycolic acid toner, I saw hardly any makeup left on my face. (The only makeup the Face Halo didn't manage to take off was around my hairline but that's because I don't like to get my hair wet).I would recommend this product for someone looking for a quicker way to remove their makeup and those that have trouble finding suitable cleansers for their sensitive skin. With this product, you know exactly what's going on your face i.e water and takes no time at all to wash your Halo ready for its next use either. The Face Halo has to be the most natural yet effective way to remove makeup! I'm so happy to see more sustainability in the beauty industry and hope to see more in the near future!Have you used the Face Halo? Let me know what you think, I'd love to hear from you!
