10 minute trick to de-puff your eyes in the morning

If you're reading this then like me, you probably suffer from puffy eyes in the morning. Puffy eyes can appear for a number of reasons but the most common reasons are usually to do with a lack of sleep, stress or dehydration. I hadn't been getting my 8hours sleep per night these last few weeks so I was waking up every morning with puffy eyes which really annoyed me. My eye makeup didn't look right and I just felt and looked exhausted!

I use eye drops regularly as I am a contact lens wearer and I spend a large proportion of my day looking at screens. However, a couple drops in the morning did nothing to banish my puffy eyes as instantly as I wished. I considered using iced spoons and cucumbers but who really has time for that in the morning??

Fast forward to a weekend where I was shopping in Primark eye-ing up (no pun intended) their beauty corner to come across their gel eye masks...and that's when I had a mini brainwave ~ I bought the eyemask and stuck it in the fridge overnight. The following morning I placed the cold eye mask over my eyes for approx 10 mins to see if it made a difference. I was shocked to see that it actually had minimised the puffiness around my eyes, especially my eyelids. The puffiness hadn't completely vanished but by the time I had started applying my makeup, my eyes weren't puffy at all! The mask did feel uncomfortably cold to begin with, but after a few minutes this settled and started to feel more relaxing. I tried this every day for two weeks and I could see a gradual improvement in my eyes. My eyes were much less puffy than they used to be and I actually became more alert in the morning's thanks to the cooling effect of the mask!

Using a gel eye mask over cucumber and spoons has its obvious advantages - its quick, easy and mess free! The only downside is that I have to run to the fridge every morning to grab my eye mask. I am pretty serious when it comes to skincare (if you haven't already noticed) so I now have an alarm set for 10 mins before my actual alarm just so I can have 10 mins to depuff my eyes before I start getting ready for the day. #Determined

I wish I had come across this trick a long long time ago but, better late than never 💁🏽 I told some family/friends about this trick too and they loved it also - so I had to share it on my blog too! Of course getting your extra sleep, maintaining a stress-free life and drinking plenty of water would be the ideal way to prevent puffy eyes in the first place but for a quick fix, this is definitely a trick you can try!

Hope this post helped you out and if you have any more tricks on combatting puffy eyes in the AM then let me know in the comments below!
