Review: Peter Thomas Roth - Meet Your Mask

If you know me personally or if you keep up with me on Instagram, you'll know that I'm all about facemasks! There is one for every season, occasion and mood and they can instantly revive your skin (and your spirits)! It's essential to know your skin type and what your skin needs before buying facemasks. The last thing you want is a pamper sesh which leaves you feeling worse than you started off.

I decided to try out the Meet Your Mask Kit by Peter Thomas Roth to see which masks I should consider adding to my collection and decided to review so you can get a better idea of what may work for you too. Peter Thomas Roth is a luxury skincare brand which means their full-sized masks are on the pricier side but it also means they have been made with high-quality ingredients so I was expecting the very best from these masks! Read below to see the claims of each product and my thoughts after 5-10 uses.

*Each mask was 14ml but as I enjoy multi-masking (using multiple masks for different areas of my face to target my skin concerns) I did get to try out the masks more often. I have also used each mask individually to make my review fair for those of you who do not multi-mask.

Rose Stem Cell Bio-Repair Gel Mask - Cutting-edge plant biotechnology isolates and replicates the perfect rose stem cells for maximum anti-ageing benefits. With state-of-the-art, 21st-century breakthrough stem cell technology, five rose stem cells are blended with four rose extracts in a cooling gel that helps restore, revitalize and brighten for younger-looking skin.

Kavita's Thoughts: I agree that this mask was very cooling and helped calm my skin at the end of a busy day. The mask was very easy to apply and although it seems pink in the packaging, once applied you can barely see the colour and it seems like an ordinary gel mask. (This was the case with all the gel-based masks in this kit). After 10-20mins, I rinsed the mask off with lukewarm water (cold water is suggested) and I was surprised that my skin was instantly looking brighter and firmer - my skin felt smooth and soft and the mask didn't strip away any of the natural oils on my face.

Cucumber Gel Mask - This ultra-gentle gel helps soothe, hydrate and detoxify the look of dry, irritated skin with botanical extracts of Cucumber, Papaya, Chamomile, Pineapple, Sugar Maple, Sugarcane, Orange, Lemon, Bilberry and Aloe Vera.

Kavita's Thoughts: I wouldn't categorise my skin to be sensitive but I do like to use sheet masks for the cooling and calming effect it has on the skin. I'd say that this cucumber mask is an alternative to using sheet masks if you prefer not to look like you're in a horror film. πŸ˜… I didn't think this was the most hydrating mask from the set but I do agree it was soothing so I ended up using this more when multi-masking. Better effects of this mask could be seen on more sensitive skin types which easily feel irritated.

Pumpkin Enzyme Mask - This powerful, triple-action manual, chemical and enzymatic exfoliating treatment addresses a dull, ageing, and congested complexion in three ways: exfoliates with Pumpkin Enzyme, reveals with Alpha Hydroxy Acid and polishes with Aluminum Oxide Crystals.

Kavita's Thoughts: One of my favourite masks from the kit! I love AHA's (you'll know if you've read this post) and this was one of the most effective face masks in the kit. It did exactly what it claimed to do and I would use this once a week when I needed the extra TLC - usually after a weekend of wearing a full face of makeup! My complexion definitely felt brighter, smoother and supple and really helped unclog my pores - especially on my nose and chin where I usually get congested. The only downside to this product is that I hate the smell of this product - I guess it's the smell of pumpkin but the only thing I can compare it too is the smell of fresh henna/mehndi. If you don't mind the smell and you don't have sensitive skin, I'd highly recommend trying out this mask!

Irish Moor Mud Mask - Purifying, decongesting and hydrating mask with odourless Irish Moor Mud helps draw out dirt, oil and grime as it infuses skin with moisture, vitamins, essential minerals and potent anti-oxidant benefits.

Kavita's Thoughts: This was the first mask I tried from the set - I love a good mud mask to detoxify my skin from air pollution and the build-up of oil on my skin throughout the day. My usual go-to is the L'oreal Pure Clay Detox Mask but this one is a great alternative which doesn't make my skin feel as dry as yet still manages to unclog my pores and leave me fresh-faced. With the L'oreal one, you can clearly see the extra oils from your skin being pulled out which you don't get to see with this Irish Moor Mud Mask. If you can live without seeing that satisfaction, you'll enjoy this mask!

24K Gold Mask - The ultimate luxurious anti-ageing treatment, this rich mask is infused with Pure 24K Gold and Colloidal Gold to help improve the appearance of firmness and impart an opulent glow.

Kavita's Thoughts: THE perfect mask to treat yourself and to remind yourself that you're a QUEEN. πŸ‘ΈπŸ½ I loved trying this out because who doesn't want 24K gold sitting on their face for 15-20mins? As stated, this is for a more mature skin type but even my skin felt firmer after use. This is the mask I would use to revive my skin and look more 'awake' after long days and not enough hours sleep. Like the other gel-based masks, unfortunately, the mask seems colourless after application but if you look closely, you do see a gold shimmer under the light. (AKA if you want to take a selfie with this mask, you won't be able to see its gold).

Blue Marine Algae Mask - A best-selling gel face mask for dry and dehydrated skin types.

Kavita's Thoughts: I would classify my skin type to be dehydrated and this mask definitely plumped up my skin after use. It was cooling on the skin and I'd say this was much more hydrating than the cucumber mask in the kit. A great alternative to using a sheet mask and this was my go-to when my skin needed some extra hydration - usually after using chemical exfoliators on my skin. For some reason, this is no longer on the PTR site so I'm unsure if this has now been discontinued however this is still available to purchase individually on Amazon or as a part of this set on Beauty Bay.

To summarise...

...if I was stranded on a desert island and I had to choose 3 masks from this set to keep with me, I would choose the Pumpkin Enzyme Mask, Blue Marine Algae Mask and the Rose Stem Cell Bio-Repair Mask!
