QUICK and EASY method to wash your makeup brushes!

Think of that feeling you get when you buy a set of new makeup brushes. Now think of the feeling you get when it's time for the tedious task of washing those same brushes after using them. I'm assuming you feel much less excited when it comes to the latter! That's why in this post, I'll be sharing how I wash my brushes in the quickest and hassle-free way!

What you'll need

  • One bar of antibacterial soap

  • Some dirty brushes

  • A running tap

Method

  1. Head over to your bathroom sink with your bar soap and dirty brushes.

  2. Run lukewarm water over your brushes so the bristles are wet. Warm water is preferred to cold water as it will help the makeup particles on the bristles loosen up & therefore make it easier to wash.

  3. Gently rub each brush directly on the bar soap in small circular motions. Add a little extra water as and when needed until you see all the makeup residue slide off your brushes.

  4. Continue this step with all of your brushes.

  5. Rinse your brushes under the tap to make sure no makeup is left. Gently squeeze out any excess water from the brushes. (This mainly applies to fluffier face brushes).

  6. Leave them to dry flat on top of a clean towel overnight (or next to a window during the daytime).

  7. Make sure that you shape the brush bristles as they are meant to be when you lie them down. It will naturally take the shape it is left in when it is wet so it's important you do this!

  8. Once they're dry, you'll be ready to use them again!

TOP TIPS

  • Make sure you rinse your bar of soap once you are finished washing your brushes! Not doing so will mean that you have old makeup left on the soap which is unhygienic & the bacteria will only transfer onto your brushes the next time you want to wash them.

  • You can use this technique as a quick way to clean your beauty sponges too! However, for a deep clean I usually prefer to soak them in hot water first.

  • Leave your bar of soap to dry on a soap dish and ONLY use this to wash your makeup brushes with. I like to leave mine to dry fully before packaging it up and storing it back into my skincare drawer.

  • Be gentle! Do not violently rub your brushes against the soap! This will only damage the bristles on the brush!

  • Wash your brushes every 1-2 weeks. This will entirely depend upon how often you use your brushes. Not washing your brushes regularly enough can cause breakouts & will apply your makeup a lot less effectively!

Hope this helped you guys out! This method is extremely quick in comparison to other methods I've tried & is just as effective! It's also approved by the one and only Mario Dedivanovic too so be sure to try it out and let me know what you think!
